Joining an established team, reporting directly to the Development Manager, you will be assisting with the design, development and implementation of our market leading transport management solutions.
You’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of medium sized projects, ensuring that they are developed to specification and delivered on time and to budget.

Good communication skills are essential as you will be working regularly with and mentoring junior team members, collaborating across our various development teams, updating project stakeholders and liaising with the testing team throughout the development lifecycle.

• Development of application code utilising Java and Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Make key contributions to application design decisions
• Analyse and advise on the impact of change requests
• Provide estimates for proposed features
• Liaise with external suppliers for third line support where required
• Test functional enhancements or configuration changes prior to release to testing team
• Provide implementation and post implementation support as required
• Investigate and resolve reported support issues
• Produce relevant documentation to support developments
• Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis as required

Essential for the role:

• At least 4 years software development experience in a commercial environment using Java with Spring Framework and Spring Boot

Other skills:

We’d really like you to if you have experience in any of the following:

• Apache Camel Integration Framework
• Working with Docker containers
• Familiar with Domain Driven Design
• Working with the Angular platform and framework
• Aware of the Flutter UI Development kit
• Conversant with testing frameworks and unit testing tools; JUnit 5 and Mockito
• Working with an automation deployment tool; Jenkins
• Using a microservice architecture
• Database performance monitoring and optimisation
• Familiar with using a ticket tracking and knowledge system; Jira / Confluence

As we continue to support hybrid working some of our events are being reworked. • Full-time permanent role
• 5-Day-Week, Monday-Friday, 7.5 hrs per day
